Security

The article covers security features that help you quickly and easily do business while keeping your account (and funds) safe.

Introduction

The account security features covered in this article exist in addition to the layer of security provided by your sign in method. These security features focus on protecting sensitive actions while using the app, like confirming a transaction or showing sensitive financial data. The 2 primary security methods used are PIN codes, and biometrics (FaceID). Learn about both these methods below.

__________

PIN Codes

You initially set a 6-digit PIN code when you create your account.

If you have biometrics set up (see next section):

  • When you are about to complete a transaction of any kind, backup your wallet (view private keys), or sign into a WORLD app with an existing account, Calaxy will first attempt to authorize your sensitive action using biometrics (like FaceID) and will only prompt you for this PIN code if the biometric check fails. The PIN code in this case is the backup security method.

If you don't have biometrics set up (see next section):

  • When you are about to complete a transaction of any kind, backup your wallet (view private keys), or sign into a WORLD app with an existing account, Calaxy will prompt you for your PIN code before continuing with the sensitive action.

Resetting your PIN Code

To reset your PIN code:

  1. From the Profile options menu, tap "Settings"

  2. In the settings panel, tap "My Account"

  3. In the "Manage Security" section, tap the "Reset" button beside PIN code

  4. Follow the on-screen prompts to set a new PIN code

__________

Biometrics (FaceID, Fingerprint)

Biometric security is the safest, fastest way to authorize sensitive actions while using the main Calaxy App or any WORLD app. When you create an account on the main Calaxy app (or any WORLD app), you are presented with the option to turn on biometric security after you set a 6-digit PIN code.

Doing so will make biometric security the primary authorization method to approve sensitive actions like completing a transaction, viewing your wallet's private keys, or signing into a new WORLD app. The specific form of biometric security is device dependant (it will either be FaceID or fingerprint).

Enabling Biometric Security (if not enabled during sign up)

If you chose to skip turning on biometric security when initially creating your account, you can turn it on from app settings.

To enable biometric security:

  1. From the Profile options menu, tap "Settings"

  2. In the settings panel, tap "My Account"

  3. In the "Manage Security" section, switch on the toggle beside the biometric security method listed (eg. FaceID)

  4. Follow the on-screen prompts to enable biometric security

Once enabled, this biometric security method will be used in place of PIN codes to quickly and safely authorize sensitive actions. PIN Code becomes the backup authorization method in the event biometric security checks fail.
